Every year in Banff Alberta, the world of television converges for the Banff
Television Festival. During this event the Banff New Media Institute in
partnership with the Banff Television Festival creates New Media Focus sessions led by internationally renowned industry guest speakers, on topics relevant to the convergence of television and new media. On Monday, moderators Susan Baldwin (CANARIE) and Sara Diamond (BNMI) will lead an exploration of the emerging world of broadband and it's role in entertainment, education and
communication. By featuring three successful CANARIE and IST-EC case
studies audience members will understand the breadth of broadband potential and share opinions on the current successes and challenges in the field of broadband presentation an research.
The Monday June 9th session will be followed by an IST-EC Brokerage session on Tuesday June 10th that will bring together IST-EC researchers and festival goers. This
will be a further opportunity to:
1) Present the main elements and potentials of broadband new media research activities in Canada and seek partners from the broadcast world
2) Present a number of Canadian projects seeking cooperation with European researchers and broadcasters
3) Present a number of European projects seeking cooperation with Canadian researchers and broadcasters
4) Review results achieved by existing cooperation projects
5) Raise awareness among European researchers on Canadian opportunities and vise versa.
