Organized by the CMSL (Center for Mastering Systems & Software) of CNAM (Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers), the aim of the 15th edition of the ICSSEA Conference is to provide a critical survey of the current status of tools, methods, and processes for elaborating software and systems. Particular emphasis will be laid on the evolution of software and systems engineering taking into account the constraints of globalization in the development and use of computing systems.

In addition to a series of parallel sessions, tutorials and workshops, ICSSEA 2002 will host, on the one hand, Assises ADELI dedicated to the theme entitled "Processes and Information Systems", to be held on Wednesday, December 4, and, on the other hand, Journées du CMSL dedicated to the theme entitled "Application Interoperability & Integration", to be held on Wednesday, December 4 and Thursday, December 5.
