Photonic: Project, Joint WS, Student Exchange in Photonics

Canada's Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE) Program: The NCE program fosters powerful partnerships among universities, industry, government and not-for-profit organizations aimed at turning Canadian research and entrepreneurial talent into economic and social benefits for all Canadians. Recently, the program launched a pilot initiative to expand the international reach of the NCEs. The goal of the initiative is to provide the NCEs with additional support to develop and enhance linkages with equivalent organizations in the rest of the world. (see http://www.nce.gc.ca/comp/IPI/IPI_e.htm )

Photonics

The Canadian Institute for Photonic Innovations (CIPI), one of Canada's 19 Networks of Centres of Excellence, would like to link with a European organization willing to partner with them in response to this initiative. CIPI is looking for a European organization which is willing to discuss a collaborative program with CIPI, (Photonics 21, has already been contacted). If you are interested please reply to the President of CIPI, Mr. Robert Corriveau expressing your interest in this PS. Mr. Robert Corriveau is assisted by the Canadian Coordinator Mr. Jim Burt, International Trade Canada (see contact details at http://www.ist-ec.org/contact_ca) IMPORTANT: Please reply to this PS by September 2006, since project deadline is 16th October 2006!

Collaboration could include, for example: - student exchanges (posting of Canadian students for 4-6 months in a European university and vice-versa) - photonic researcher teams from Europe and Canada working on a jointly defined research project - joint workshops or other activities of interest to both parties. CIPI would pay for Canadian expenses (travel of our students and our researchers) and the other organization would cover European expenses.
